March 9 Public Forum on Space Exploration Funding

Event: A panel discussion open to the public and targeting the Space Coast region. The event is designed to discuss the Administration’s recently announced NASA budget and their plans for future space exploration. Topics to be covered in the discussion may include (but are not limited to) – “How will this impact the Space Coast / Florida?” “How will the policies embraced by this budget impact our future as a spacefaring nation / our reputation as a leader in space?” “Are there security implications in this budget?” “Has robotics won over human spaceflight as a result of this budget?”
Time/Place: 7 – 8:30 PM, Simpkins Fine Arts Auditorium, BCC Cocoa campus.
Participants:
Marsh Heard, Space Advisor, EDC of Florida’s Space Coast; Dan Raymond, Business Manager, Local 2088, IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers); Winston Scott, Former Astronaut and Dean, School of Aeronautics, FIT; Dr. Dave Weldon, Former Congressman and member, House Appropriations Committee, practicing physician with MIMA.
Format: Welcome and context setting by the Florida Today moderator, brief opening statements by each panel member. The bulk of the evening spent by the moderator asking written questions submitted by audience members.
Publicity: The event will be streamed live to the internet on Florida Today’s website (http://www.floridatoday.com/) and, re-broadcast over BCC’s cable outlet (WBCC).
